The Dark Side

I have never been that into garage sales. Then I moved here. Apparently this town in crazy for garage sales, and last weekend we had about 10 just in our neighborhood. At about 7:00 in the morning the kids came in and asked if they could go to the neighbor's garage sale. I gave them all one dollar which they promptly traded in for a whole mess of junk they will never, ever use.

Then we took Jedi for a walk, and of course they wanted to stop at every garage sale we came across. That's when I made my first find. I got this dehydrator (with 7 trays) for $15.00! Our first dehydrated item was some bananas. We have since then moved on and everything has been delicious! At the same place I also got a steamer/rice cooker for $5.00. If you are an avid reader of my blog, you may remember a little post I did about my TOTAL inability to cook rice, so I was super excited about this find.

Later in the day, we were driving through the neighborhood and little T spotted this beauty. A fire pit thing (I know, very official language). The kids are always trying to talk us into burning down the neighborhood with a bonfire of our very own, so I stopped to see what they wanted for this much safer alternative. Five dollars later, it was mine!

We have been living on smores ever since.

My last find of the day is not pictured. At the same place as the fire pit thing, I found.... a Ping Pong table!!! No kidding! It is beautiful and I am so excited to kick some ping pong rear. I need to move some stuff around to make room for it, so pictures will be coming soon. Needless to say, I may have just been converted to the garage sale dark side.

Ha! I was actually at a yard sake this morning. I had a table of literature and free stuff for my candidate. BUT, I picked up the full set of the History Channel's "The American Revolution" for $5. I was stoked!

Good job on your finds...I'm jealous of your firepit thingy. I've been wanting one of those for years now.

WHAT??! I knew you lived in Idaho, but I thought it was the Boise area for some reason...where are you exactly? I'm sad we didn't know you were so close!! If it's up to me we'll be back there again before summer is up, and we won't be so mean and not visit you! And I never knew I'd been living on the dark side by going to garage sales, haha. They are the best when you're like me and re-locate every 6 months and move only what fits in your car. The cook-out thingy is great, s'mores and summers just go together!

I love that you found a fire pit for 5 dollars! We need one of those. Not down here, though. What we need is more like an ice pit.

Once a friend of mine was going to buy an old Scrabble game. The guy said, "I can't take less than 3 dollars for that game." I thought that was funny. :)
