Today, well yesterday, those of us who LOVE Twilight got two bits of great news. I just had to share, just in case someone out there is not as up to date on this stuff as I am. Number 1: Taylor Lautner will be Jacob in New Moon!!! I am already loyal to each character of the movie(s) and was not at all thrilled to learn they may trade him in. Number 2: The Twilight DVD will be released on March 21st! I don't care what it costs...it will be mine!CHRIS WEITZ AND STEPHENIE MEYER ANNOUNCE THAT TAYLOR LAUTNER WILL BE PLAYING JACOB BLACK
On her official website, StephenieMeyer.com, Stephenie Meyer herself, and Chris Weitz confirm that Taylor Lautner will be reprising his role as Jacob Black in New Moon.

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.

So I vote that at like 1130 on the 20th we go to walmart and wait there until Midnight so that we can get our copies as soon as they can sell it. What do you think? We need this moment since we didnt get to go on our date to see the movie together.

I'm a little behind on all this. I just read "New Moon" and have yet to see the "Twilight" movie. :)
Thanks for the updates! I am rather intrigued by what this new director will be able to do. There are some seriously challenging special effects needed for the remaining three movies. Taylor makes a great Jacob. I just want to see how they pull him off as a 7 ft. body-builder (or, at least, that's what he looked like in my mind)
