Start Digging

A couple of weeks ago, my cousin-in-law Lorren introduced me to a new T.V. show, "Hoarders." I cannot explain what this show has done to me, but I now spend my time strolling around my house looking for things to get rid of. Over the last week, I have donated a few truckloads of who knows what to our local charities, discovered the joys of selling to consignment stores, and sold the following items on Craigslist:

1 Cream colored, shag rug
1 Persian style rug (Yes, Shayla the rugs were yours. Thanks for the $.)
1 Activity calendar
1 Adjustable metal bed frame
4 Halloween costumes (Yes, someone else gets an infant Whoopie Cushion costume this year.)
1 Baby swing (I don't want to talk about it.)
1 Baby floor mat thing (Don't want to talk about that either.)
4 Ski racks
1 Easter dress
1 Reversible queen size bed set
3 Child backpacks
6 Boxes of baby clothes (I really don't want to talk about that.)

I am still debating all the other baby stuff I have. It's all so sentimental to me, I may have to be buried with it. But with that thought in mind, we get a new episode of "Hoarders" this week, so I expect to be freshly motivated to dig myself out--of the clutter, not the grave. In case you were confused.

This show is amazing. I can't believe some of the stuff I have seen on this show. I can attest that I have not lived in these conditions, but it is highly motivating to make you want to fung shue. Here's to getting rid of stuff.

Isn't that show crazy?? I like it because I can forget everything that's wrong with me and focus on their horrible hoarding issues. Just kidding. But seriously...

I'm like you, after I watch that show I'm on a cleaning out frenzy. (the shows where they can't throw away garbage is gag-o-rama). Well, I'm off to clean out a closet or two!

Isn't craigslist awesome?! I made $1000 selling stuff out of our house before we sold it. One person's junk is another's treasure!

"Golden Girls" will change your life, too, if you let it.

Way to go!
I haven't seen this particular show, but I've seen others that probably inspired it (Oprah). Hoarding facinates and discusts all in one. I'm not a minimalist, by far, but can't live with too much stuff being out of control either. I do enjoy a good perge every once-in-a-while. I LOVE Craigslist!!!
Yes, the baby things are hard to get rid of. I believe all I have left is some homemade gramma clothes and the pack-n-play we use all the time for neices, nephews and guests.
Good job on your efforts.

After hearing your family talking about Hoarders, I had to check it out. I totally know what you mean about it making you want to get rid of stuff. It was a whole lot of motivation for me to keep my house clean and organized.

That would be tough to get rid of baby stuff. Keep a little bit around for future grandchildren (I know, it's a ways off, but do you really want to buy it all again?).

i love that show too! I already throw stuff out, i am NOT sentimental, so it is easy for me. Lori wants me to keep every single paper she brings home...so I throw it away when she is in bed. I have actually hurt peoples feelings over my lack of keeping things that I don't use anymore. oops:)

I love that show. It also inspires me to get rid of stuff. Actually, for separate reasons, I am getting rid of all my baby stuff. It is really hard. :(
