The Long Trip Home

The last morning of the trip, before we headed off for our 412 hour drive home, we all took a few family pictures. Here is a rare picture of my little brood, complete with Jedi and T's poor smashed finger.

Even rarer than a picture of my family is one of ALL the grand kids. From the top left we have Kyle and little Jack, Justin and little Mel, bottom row left we have my T and little B, K and little P. Then we have Chelsea (who was the reason for this shindig), Cora and Gabe.
The ride home was a bit less eventful than the ride to Colorado, most of us, however, were far more grumpy on the return trip. As soon as we hit the canyon just before Spanish Fork, UT, we ran into a Memorial Day nightmare. A bumper to bumper traffic jam that took us 2 hours to go about 16 miles. During this time, we did pull over to let Jedi, Vinny, and little K pee. Due to a little curiosity and a slight breeze, Vinny ended up peeing all over Jedi and K ended up peeing all over me.
Once we got back in the car, little P decided he was going to make us pay for all this car seat torture. In order to pacify him, I gave him nearly an entire Hershey's bar. Hence the chocolate drool and the impending diaper of runny diarrhea.
The best picture of the entire trip was also taken during the 2 hour traffic jam. Here we have little K...the picture of happiness! I think at this point we were watching Star Wars II, but apparently not even a smokin' hot, young Anakin Skywalker could cheer up this exhausted traveler.

Despite all our traveling woes and sorrows, we had a fantastic time with my family. Many of them had never even seen little P before, so it was wonderful to do so much catching up. I cannot believe that I have a niece old enough to graduate from high school. Congratulations Chelsea, we all love you!

GREAT picture of your family! Don't you love traveling??? Driving with kids is enough to make me drive over the side of a bridge. (not really. well, almost.)

LOL the picture of little K is worth a thousand words! Why does the drive home always seem twice as long as the drive out?
