Our Very Own Jedi Knight

Meet Jedi! Out of the blue today Vinny suggested we go buy a dog. Well I say out of the blue but this is something we've thought about for 7ish years. Vinny found a litter of 11 puppies on Craigslist. As for the breed of dog, the add read: "The mom is a lab and the dad is sneaky." So we don't know exactly what kind of dog he is, but Jedi has totally won us over!

True to form, we chose the "runt" of the litter. If there is something pathetic looking, we want it. Give us the underdogs! Really, as soon as the previous owner mentioned that he was the runt (although we could all see that he was much smaller than the others) and she did not expect anyone to want him, I knew my kids would.
As soon as Vinny mentioned the need for a name, little B chimed in with, "How about Jed?" What a great name! We then decided that he needed a two syllable name so we could call for him better, and settled on the next suggestion--Jedi (as in the Jedi knights from Star Wars). According to B, however, we can still call him Jed for his "shortcut name."
On our way home we stopped at the pet store to buy...well, everything. Jedi was feeling a little overwhelmed and promptly threw up on Vinny. It wasn't the cute baby kind of barf. Jedi covered Vinny's shirt and arm and made a puddle on the floor which had to be cleaned up by the staff. It was like he'd been a part of this family for years!
I wish I could explain better how much we already love this little guy. Over the next few months I expect little Jed to eat or destroy the following: One couch, 11 shoes, one trampoline mat, 30 pairs of children's underwear, bags and bags of dirty diapers, bags and bags of trash, three pillows, one cell phone, one backpack, boxes of toys, an Ipod or two, my computer cord, a box of crayons, one Thanksgiving turkey, and a few DVD's. With all this mass destruction in mind, I think he will fit in with the other kids just fine.

We just LOVE little Jed!! Hayden, in all of his crying to sleep tonight, was saying "puppy puppy!" He has stolen our hearts! He is the greatest addition to our family since, well, me. Ahhhh what a cutie!
I blogged about him too :)

I can't wait to get a dog...just 7 years away, woo! Puppies are the best, you're brave, but it sounds like you're ready for the chewed-up everythings that Jedi will bring. I think all kids should have a puppy, good times!

Little Jedi is SO CUTE! How fun for your family. I totally get what you man about it being hard to explain how much your family loves the puppy. Congrats on your new arrival.

He's sooooo cute!

Puppies become dogs...puppies become dogs. (I'm just reminding myself.)

Jason once brought home a puppy when I was sickly pregnant and when we had just built and moved into a new house. Bad idea...very bad idea. I've never recovered and he really messed up the chance of me EVER agreeing to another dog. My poor deprived kids.
